We had a great time at our Class of 1958 picnic. I arrived early to wrap the tables in paper cloths. Just me and the unwelcomed quests (The Bees). Roger Castle was next to arrive with a much welcomed cooler of soft drinks!!! During the picnic it was voted on to have our Class Reunion in September, 2013 with the added request it be held on a weekend when the "game" was away!!! Also requested was that the classmates in Lexington be included in the planning of the Reunion. Donations were requested by Ron Knipp to cover the cost of the website maintained by Judy and Charlie. We left about 2:30 or 3 pm. Taking our bee stings home until next we meet. Thanks to our great class photographers, Lee Hart and Rhrea Howard.
We are beginning our Class Reunion committee meetings. The first will be at the Elks Lodge, second Monday in February which is Feb 11th at 1 pm. Everyone who is interested in planning our 55 reunion is invited to attend. The meetings will be on the second Monday of each month until the big event in September. Hope to see all those interested for an Elks lunch and lottsa planning. See you there!!! Jim
I appreciate receiving the information about the upcoming reunion for the AHS class of 1958. Unfortunately, I will not be able to come.
Thanks for the blog. I didn't realize it existed. It's nice to hear about old friends. Here's a summary of the way I spent the past 55 years:
After high school, I graduated from Berea College with a degree in elementary education. I married my college sweetheart after graduation, and we moved to Knoxville, TN, where I taught middle school science until retiring in 2001. After a divorce, I moved to Oak Ridge, TN, and now work as an educator at the American Museum of Science and Energy.
I have two daughters and two grandchildren, all of whom graduated from Oak Ridge High School (except for the youngest grandchild who is a senior at ORHS this year).
I have enjoyed various hobbies during this time: hiking, traveling, mission trips, church work, and painting landscapes. I have been very well blessed.
Thank you for keeping up with everyone. I hope the reunion goes well.
