  • Sandra Brammell 
    1940 - 2024 
    Sandra Jean Brammell, 83, of Ashland, widow of James Brammell, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 3, 2024, at Kings Daughters Medical Center following a brief illness.  Sandra was born October 10, 1940, in Auxier, Kentucky to the late Robert Preston Walters and Olive Litz Walters. Sandra was a 1958 graduate of Ashland High School. She went on to become an insurance billing clerk with Kings Daughters Medical Center for 28 years. She was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church and devoted mother and grandmother and an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan. Since her retirement, Sandra enjoyed volunteering at Boyd County CAReS for the last 12 years. 
    In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Brammell in 2011; and one brother Robert Keth Walters. 
    She is survived by two daughters, Diana Taylor (Bill) of Ashland, KY and Cindy Hale (Chris) of Catlettsburg; four grandchildren, B. J. Brammell (Rachel), Matthew Hale (Cyndi), Kristen Sparks (Robert), and Car-Leigh Taylor; five great grandchildren, Conner Nataly, Macie Nataly, Griffin Brammell, Larkin Brammell, Lucas Hale, and one on the way, Lincoln Hale, her furry companion, Tucker, and a host of extended family and friends. 
    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Caniff Funeral Home by Brother Brad Callaway. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Caniff Funeral Home. 
    In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandra's name may be made to Boyd County CAReS, 2516 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.

  • Carol Sue McWain Obituary
    We are sad to announce that on December 2, 2023, at the age of 83, Carol Sue McWain in Lexington, Kentucky, born in Ashland, Kentucky passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Carol Sue McWain to pay them a last tribute.
  • She was predeceased by : her parents, Walter A. Duncan and Kathleen May Duncan (Simpson); and her siblings, Bobby Duncan and Imogene Pennington. She is survived by : her husband Bennie R. McWain; her children, Kelley Sue Stapleton (Jeff Moberly), Natalie Carol McWain and Bennie Ray McWain, Jr. (Susan); and her granddaughter Emily Grace McWain.
  • Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7th 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the First Church of God (505 Kingston Rd, Lexington, KY 40505). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7th 2023 at 1:30 PM at the same location.

We are sorry to report the death of Judy Ann Hencye Whitehead on October 28, 2023 in Nicholasville, Kentucky.   Judy was born On March 21, 1940.  She graduated from Ashland High School in 1958.  Judy was a beautfiful girl then and remained so during her life of 83 years.   She was an ROTC Company queen and also reigned as queen of our prom along with king Ron Lyon.
